Lead the Escape

This past week, my children were privileged and honored to be able to participate in a four day training event in our city. Twelve young adults, aged 17 to 19 arrived on Tuesday evening to train our children in authentic communication. They are part of an organization called the Institute for Cultural Communicators and their goal is to train the next generation to not only know what they believe, but be able to communicate it clearly.

We live in a society where there are virtually no moral absolutes being played out on a consistent basis. The majority of youth today, both "Christian" and non "Christian" say in survey after survey that they do not believe in moral absolutes. Their answer is that if it is right for you, then it is none of my business. "Live and let live" seems to be the most popular slogan.

I am here to tell you that among the youth of our generation, there is a movement afoot - a movement toward authentic communication in and with the culture where we find ourselves. A movement of young people who truly desire to glorify God above all else and who are sick and tired of all of their peers simply "parroting" the culture. There are young people today who want, not to fit in, but to stand out. To demonstrate genuine love to their culture.

I am humbled and thankful that my children have chosen to stand with these young people. They have made a conscious decision to be part of the solution to mediocrity in our society, rather than adding to the problem. They desire genuine relationships, real communication, and true character.

It daily amazes me that God has chosen to bless me with children like this. I assure you that it has nothing to do with me, and everything to do with Him. There is nothing within me that should have produced these young people who live in my home. Apart from the grace of Jesus Christ I am absolutely nothing.

Please do not hear me say that my children, or any of the young adults you see on the flyer above are perfect. On the contrary, they all stumble, many times a day - the difference is that they desire to use their failings to illustrate the goodness of our God; the God whose strength is made perfect in our weaknesses. The God who desires to show mercy and unfailing love to a lost and dying culture that has turned its back on Truth. The God who can use absolutely anyone for His purposes! These young people know this God intimately and their desire is that everything they do point, not to themselves, but to Him!

It is amazing to be part of such a movement of God. My desire for you who are reading today is to be encouraged, our culture is not completely lost. If Jesus tarries, there are leaders out there; young people who are rising above the norm of our society and they are training others to come alongside of them.

This organization is growing and spreading across our nation. Just since September, these twelve interns have visited states from California to Georgia training young adults aged eleven to nineteen to communicate with the culture. Their desire is to come alongside you, as the parents and help you train your children.
