Not Me Monday!

Welcome to Not Me! Monday!

This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I'm going to begin today's confession with a humorous, and slightly "adult" twist...

If you read my previous post you know we are now the proud owners of three (soon to be 3,000) red-eyed tree frogs! Yes, you have inferred correctly....it was certainly Not our brand new pets that we caught last night, "in the act" of creating new little tree frogs! Well, at least now we know that Jack/Walker/Cooper needs a new name, because he is in fact -- a girl!! (And we thought we had a G-rated household!)

It is not me who is working frantically this week to get ready for my parents and my "adopted" aunt and uncle (aka my parents' best friends) to visit us. I know it is supposed to be relaxing to have your parents visit, and it will be, once they are here - but, they only come a few times per year and I really don't want them to see that it is not me who takes my kids to the beach and then allows them to get into the car with half the beach still attached to their bodies and then leaves it in the backseat, so that every person who gets in the car after them has to sit on salty, itchy, beach sand!

It is also not me who rarely makes my kids clean their room, so when I went in to get the sheets off of my ten year old daughter's bed, I realized that every article of her clothing is kept, not in the drawers or closet, oh no, in the floor! And I certainly would NOT want my parents to know that -- after all, they raised me better!

While I am confessing, I will tell you that it is not me who decided today to really get in there and clean out my six year old's room - you know, in preparation for the visit and all - and it certainly can not be true that inside the dress up trunk I found more sucker wrappers than I have allowed my son to eat this year, plus all sorts of other food stuff and trash that certainly belonged *gasp* in a trash can, and not a dress up trunk!!

Finally, it is not this mama who must need a serious hormone test because it seems lately that about, um, once a month or so, I most definitely do not find myself snapping at my children for the smallest offense and moping around the house, wishing that someone would come along and do my chores for me so that I can move along to bigger and more exciting endeavors (like playing at the beach or reading a book), and of course, it was certainly not me who this month at that "time" complained to my hard working husband that I simply could not keep up with all the mundane tasks like laundry and dishes. After all, it would certainly not be me wasting time on such activities as blogging and facebooking rather than the aforementioned chores -- no way, not me!!

Wow - that is some cheap therapy!! Thanks McMama!

Not Me Monday

Happy Monday!

I truly hope you are all feeling a little better than I am this morning, because I have to tell you it was NOT me who ate about a dozen "reindeer dropping" Christmas treats last night when we had friends over for dinner and it was NOT me who found myself on the bathroom floor in the middle of the night throwing up! It is also NOT me who is really hoping that it was the cookies and not some stomach flu that is going to get us all the week before Christmas, because, yes, you guessed it, it was also NOT my ten year old who also threw up in the middle of the night. For the record, she ate almost as many "reindeer droppings" as I did!! Apparently, these things are not the best for our family to eat -- but, I have to tell you, they were definitely NOT about the most delicious Christmas candy I have ever had, even if I did pay dearly for eating them.

In keeping with the sick theme, it is also NOT our family who has to perform in a Christmas talent show for our homeschool group tonight at 7:00, so whatever this is I have, it certainly better me gone by then!

It is NOT me who started out so strong with my Christmas shopping the day after Thanksgiving and then has not bought a present since and still has a pretty long list.

It is NOT me who has wrapped, cooked, and baked absolutely nothing!

And it is NOT me who is so thankful for this season and for the gift of Jesus Christ that I am determined that none of the fluff and frills and busyness will force me to take my eyes off of the baby in the manger.

"For His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace."

Not Me Monday!

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

I just want to say that as an ongoing "not me" moment, it is not me sitting on the computer first thing every Monday to write this when I have tons to do to get ready for the week!

Just so that is clear, let me go on:

It was not my Christmas tree that fell over in the floor this week, breaking the beautiful angel on top and all of the glass ornaments that were within 2 feet of the angel, plus bunching up all the strings of lights to the point that every single thing had to be taken off the tree in order to redecorate it!

Even worse than that, it was not me (or my husband) who left said tree in the floor for three days before going out to buy a new tree stand that would actually hold the tree up!

It is not me who has to clean house every day this week because the same family wants to look at our house every other day as they decide whether or not to buy it. Tomorrow will be the 4th time!!

Finally, it is not me who is trying really hard to enjoy this awesome time of Advent, yet finds myself stressed out, rushed, harried, and cranky way more often than I should be in light of all the many, many undeserved blessings bestowed upon me by my Savior.

Merry Christmas Season!!

Not Me Monday!

I have got to make this quick, because it is certainly not me who has let my kids sleep until 9:00 on the first day back to school after Thanksgiving Break....especially since my oldest has a dentist appointment at 10:30 and it takes her at least an hour to get ready! You remember being almost 15 don't you?

This week was so full of "not me" moments that I can't remember any as I sit here! I have got to get a "not me" notebook and write them down.......

Let's see......it is not me who is sitting here in my pajamas when I have tons to do.....it was not me who spent the entire day after Thanksgiving reading a fiction book rather than shopping and putting up Christmas decorations.......and it was not me who burned mac and cheese in the bottom of my only large sauce pot and left it there so that now it is a black mess that I don't know if I will ever get off!

Does anyone else notice that most of my not me moments center around my laziness??!!!

In that case, I will end with one about someone else, who is not as lazy as me. It was not my beautiful, smart, hard working, almost 15 year old daughter who completed National Novel Writing Month last night by writing 50,000 words in one month!! We are so proud of Bryce and she is such an amazing writer. This was a huge, difficult challenge to complete on top of everything else she has to do for school. Sweetheart, you did a great job!!

Have a great week everyone!

Not Me Monday Time Again!

This past week I did not give my children the week off from schoolwork because we had company in town from out of the country, the whole while knowing that with Thanksgiving coming we would certainly not get much done this week either!

I also did not allow my dear Brazilian friend to cook dinner almost every single night because it was sooooo delicious, even though she is here in America to rest and relax!

I know my ears are not ringing with the sound of constant whining from my six year old this week and I certainly did not allow the thought to cross my mind that maybe he should be the only one of our children to attend "real" school!

Finally
... now that I just finished typing the previous sentence, the above mentioned six year old did not just run to me with face shining to tell me how his sister just helped him finish his reading lesson to "surprise" me and make me happy!

So, all that to say, in all truthfulness, even with ringing ears.....I love my life so much, and I thank God daily for the opportunity to watch my children grow and learn together -- and yes, sometimes whine!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

It's Monday Again!

I really can't believe it is already Monday! I feel like time goes faster as we get older - didn't my mom used to say that?

Anyway......

I am not sitting here on the computer knowing that I have a missionary family from Brasil coming over in a couple of hours to stay for a week...

I do not still need to clean bathrooms and grocery shop before they arrive,

and I am certainly not thinking about leaving my house in the messy state that it is in now, just so they feel at home and comfortable.

The previous comment is not a justification for my laziness, either, by the way!

Ok, so that is just this morning....let me think about what I did not do this week...

I did not pile nine children, plus myself in my mini-van because I was babysitting for a friend and I had to take three of them to tennis lessons and the others were too little to stay home alone....no, I would never do that...it would be completely illegal - not to mention dangerous!

*Just as a side note, in all truthfulness, let me say that every child who needed one was in a car seat, safely buckled in - it was my own teenagers that I allowed to sit on the floor -- don't tell me you've never done it! Seriously, if you have never done it, don't tell me! :)

This is my first Not Me Monday post! Check out McKMama's blog to get your own Not Me button and participate!

I did NOT sit at Starbucks all morning chatting with a friend, leaving my four kids at home to do their schoolwork alone - and I certainly did NOT enjoy it!!

I did NOT buy my kids really unhealthy fried chicken for lunch because I had not baked any bread.

My lack of bread baking was NOT because I spent the morning at Starbucks!

Finally, just to show you that I am really not that bad of a Mommy, I did NOT bake my children really healthy from scratch muffins and make homeade chicken noodle soup for supper and we did NOT spend a beautiful, cool Florida evening playing at the park with friends.

Hey - this is really fun! I'm going to try this again next Monday! G'night!
