Summer

Another summer is upon us. Here in South Florida that means HOT, HOT, and more HOT. It means humidity that makes your hair curl even if you don't have curly hair, and well, for people like me - you just don't want to see my frizzy locks on most days. It means mosquitoes, tiny little biting bugs that we call no see ums - not sure if that is really a word, and other flying things. It means the acrid smell of smoke from the multiple forest fires that ignite when the first of the summer lightening bolts hit the ground that is parched from the dry season.

Soon, the ground will become saturated with daily deluges of rain. Sheets that pour from the blackened sky for about two hours every afternoon and then stop abruptly, leaving visual vapors steaming up from the hot asphalt. Roadside ditches will be full of rainwater - the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes, snakes, and even an alligator or two.

My kids are happy to be on a lighter school schedule. The beach is calling our name, and the pool is their daily entertainment. Patrick already fits right in - loving his mornings at the beach and afternoons in the pool. I am loving the nice LONG naps that this outdoor entertainment provides.

My house is a wreck, play dates abound, washing towels is my lot in life, and laughter and squeals rent the air! I LOVE it!

Happy Summer!!
