Lyndsey's Day!

Wow! Double digits! Lyndsey has been looking forward to May 6, 2008 because she is 10 years old! Of course, Mom is a couple of days late posting about her, but at least it is still the right month! I just want to take a minute to brag on our little Lu. She is a mixture of the personalities of the other children, rolled up in one that is still somehow all her own. Lyndsey is very sensitive and compassionate, like Joshua. She loves to organize things in her room, like Bryce. She is everywhere at once, a bundle of energy, like Graham. Yet, there are things that are uniquely Lyndsey. She loves to surprise people with acts of kindness, and sometimes I will walk into the kitchen and she is scrubbing away at the countertops and cleaning the entire kitchen to surprise me. She gets in her room and she loves to go through her things and re-fold her clothes and then she takes all of her "stuff" like Pet Shops, stuffed animals, little figurines and lines them up on the dressers and sits things around in a decorative fashion. She has a definite sense of style, in her decor and her outfits. Lyndsey is one that can wear faded blue jeans, pink cowboy boots, a sequined top, and dangling sparkle earrings and somehow make it work. It is just her. Yet, she is a friend to all the boys because she is not afraid to carry lizards and frogs around in her hands. She picks up all the caterpillars and beetles that find their way into our house and "rescues" them. She is also the best mother's helper you could ask for. Her passion is definitely babies and she is great with them. Even the new moms we know are very comfortable handing Lyndsey their newborn babies. She carries them, plays with them, and even does dirty diapers! She and Bryce are very wanted babysitters in our circle of friends!

I met a new sister in Christ recently from Central Florida. She was describing her daughter to me, who I have not yet had a chance to meet. She said that her daughter was a mixture of tomboy and "girlie girl." She told of a time when her daughter was about six and she was allowed to choose her own Easter dress. She chose a ruffled, flouncy dress that was perfect for spinning in circles and a little bit "much" for her mother's simple tastes. Yet, she had given her daughter the choice. They were sitting in the yard about to take the Easter pictures and the little girl had her dress all spread around her and her hair done in ribbons. Suddenly a huge bullfrog hopped out of nowhere and across the grass in front of the little girl. She reached out, grabbed the frog and plopped it on the shoulder of her ruffled dress. Proudly, she smiled and said, "Now, take the picture!"

This is Lyndsey!

I love you so much, my dear. You are something really special!
