Plugging Along....

Things are going great around here with our new addition. He is such a good baby. He usually only gets up one time at night, but he is eating more in ounces during the day. I am making his formula from a recipe my pediatrician gave me because I am a firm believer in breastfeeding and it seriously breaks my heart that I am not nursing him. This formula is supposed to closely mimic breast milk and it must because after only three bottles his poop turned to the yellow, seedy look of breast milk poop. (Sorry, for any of you who do not normally discuss baby poop in regular conversation). I am also adding a couple of ounces per day of breast milk from a friend of mine to his bottles. It still makes me sad that he can not drink milk from me, but I feel better about his nutrition knowing that he is getting at least some of what God intended for babies to eat.

We traveled to NC Memorial Day weekend to meet my new nephew and introduce our baby to the rest of the family. Banx is absolutely precious. He is so tiny compared to our little guy. Bryce took a lot of pictures and she has been working on editing them for my sister.

Isn't he a doll baby?

Now we are home and trying to settle into a routine. It is so awesome having the older kids who dote on their baby brother so much. I feel like we all just kind of sit around and look at him. Still in unbelief that he belongs to us! I told my husband that it feels almost like I hear it feels to have grandchildren. I'm not so nervous this time around, my other kids are older and more self-sufficient (Bryce gets her driver's licence next week!!), and I just feel like I want to savor every second of his babyhood. Maybe it is simply that now I know how fast it goes by and I know how quickly he will be 8 years old, like my "baby" Graham is. I don't stress if we have a "bad" day or a crying spell - I have now lived the saying "the days are long but the years are short." I know that before I have time to get ready, he will be sitting up, then walking and talking, and then ready for school. Even sleep seems not that big of a deal to me. I get up in the middle of the night and I savor the quiet moments to hold him and pray. I love it - and I love him. It is amazing how God works in the hearts of a family. He is ours as much as any of our other children. And I do not take one second of this entire journey for granted. We feel so blessed and so blissfully happy.
