Change is bittersweet.
Some of our best friends moved today. Their leaving makes our imminent move seem even more real. Their family is so special to us. We have known each other since we only had four children between us. Now we have eleven! Our children have grown up together and feel more like brothers and sisters than friends. We are kindred spirits - we think alike, talk alike (complete with Southern accents), and even kind of look alike. I know we will be friends for all of eternity, but losing the daily face to face contact is just hard. Graham is feeling the loss of one of his very best buddies and I think it makes them all realize how quickly we are going to be the ones leaving town.
God has a plan, this I am sure of. The tough part is when He only reveals it to you a little at a time. Maybe He does this to see if you are going to keep trusting Him, even when you can't see the outcome. I want to trust like that. I want to trust Him like my baby trusts me. I can see it on his face. The contentment, the peace when I am there beside him. The look of pure adoration when he wakes up in my bed, his head sharing my pillow and his little legs thrown over mine. He touches my face and smiles. I am overwhelmed with the responsibility of that trust.
I want to always look at my Heavenly Father that way. Pure adoration, pure trust. Knowing that He will always be there when I wake up. Knowing that when I reach out for Him, He will never be beyond the stretch of my hand.
As everything is our life changes, there is One who stays the same. Yesterday, today, and forever - He has a plan. And it is good.
New people, new adventures, and new missions are on the horizon. I will never forget the ones we leave behind, both here and scattered. They will forever hold a place in my heart.
