Why??

It is a loaded question really and most people who ask it don't truly want an answer.  The ones who "get it" don't ask and the ones who ask don't "get it."

Why are you adopting again?  You...... *fill in the blank*

                            can't save them all
                            already have your hands full
                            are not getting any younger
need to spend time with your husband, you have had little kids your entire marriage
need to think about the costs

With all the kindness I can muster in my responses, here is what I have to say:

I am not trying to "save" anyone - only Jesus saves, I am just trying to love the way Christ loved us and the way He commands that we love others.  And no, I can't adopt them all, but together - together, we could.
My hands were full when I gave birth to twins at age twenty - my heart is even more full and I would not have it any other way.
Good gracious - don't I know it!!  But, as my dear friend Linny says, "Ask any orphan if they would rather have an old mom or no mom.  They will pick the old one every time."
That's what adult "kids" are for - babysitting.  Am I right?!?!  My husband and I are so much more joyful when we are on mission together - and justice for the orphan is what we are passionate about.  You should try it!!  Real men step in to care for the fatherless - and man, it is a TURN ON!!!
We decided long ago that all of our money belongs to God (it did before we decided it, but it feels so good and FREE to acknowledge it) -- so if you mean the cost, cost - as in money cost - yes, redemption is pricey.  However, you can not even begin to imagine the "pay out."  Kisses, hugs, laughter, someone to snuggle with any time you need a hug, tangible love that purely overflows. The blessings of adoption are all OURS.  The kids we adopt are the ones who are the heroes.  Not us.  We are the ones who are blessed.

So, friends - if you have ever wanted to ask an adoptive family why - let me leave you with a picture that needs NO words.

This........

This is why...........

My son, his life, is more than enough of a reason.
