Three Months

Can you believe chunky monkey is three months old? Maybe time is not flying for you, but it is flying around here. Just as I knew it would!

We are loving our nice quiet summer. So unusual for our normal crazy pace. We are watching too many movies, but we have pulled out some really good classics, like the original Cheaper By the Dozen - one of our favorites. In addition to that, we have really done some purging as well. Two of my children earned themselves some extra bucks yesterday by cleaning out the garage. I can actually get one car in our four car garage now! Wahoo! We have also cleaned out closets, kitchen cabinets, and school supplies.

So far we have almost completed the reading of the original Pilgrim's Progress and we have tried to keep up with our prayer list daily. The older kids and I are studying the Westminster Confession of Faith and reading through our Sonlight list. Plus, they both now have jobs. They have been very blessed to be able to help a local author/pastor/home school dad type the curriculum he writes into a usable format. They are both really enjoying that, and making great money from home. You really can not argue with those circumstances.

Baby is doing great. He is sleeping through the night now and rarely fusses about anything. He is smiling constantly, cooing, and sticking out his tongue. I got one giggle from him the other day, but he has not done that again yet. Our court date for the finalization of his adoption is August 25th. We are very excited about that - but, of course, it really doesn't change anything except paperwork.

Next week we will be heading north for a few days in the mountains. It will be our first and only trip for this summer, but we are anticipating a little bit of cooler weather and beautiful scenery. Plus, we get to see family, which is certainly an added bonus. Once we get back, it will be time to get our act together for the beginning of school. Hopefully, baby will continue to be as agreeable as he is right now once we have a schedule we are trying to stick to.

We feel so very blessed to be at this place in our lives. Truly our God is amazing and He ordains the institution of family. We know that adoption is His heart, because He adopted us as His very own. We also know that He loves little children and we are so thankful that He is filling our quiver with them. Please check out the Generation Cedar blog, the link is on my sidebar. As the body of Christ, we can't simply wave our pro-life signs and then have an attitude that is any less than gratitude for each and every child that comes into the world - regardless of the circumstances of that child's birth or of the health of that child. Every child is a blessing from the hand of God.
