All of creation sings of God's glory, and yet the weight of sins falls heavy on the earth. Overwhelming tragedy, creation groans for relief. Mankind grits its teeth and bears the weight of sin for another day.
Sometimes it all seems too much. Our souls can choose to live in the Kingdom of His glorious light but our physical bodies long for that which we can not see. Physical redemption seems so far away. The days seem dark and the night seems long, yet we know that glory is our end.
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creationhas been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." Romans 8
When tragedy strikes, as it seems to all too often lately, and my gut wants to gather my brood under my wing and hide in the house, I have to remember what He promised.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinthians
Because we are new creations, bought by the precious blood of Christ, we do not have to live in fear. Perfect love casts out fear and we can live as those redeemed. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. Not death, not destruction, not terror. The world groans under the weight of tragedy and death, but we have the capability to live as free men and women, filled with the power of our risen Savior.
"For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation." Galatians
He is not shaken by circumstances, He is not frantic or panicked by what we see around us. He is still on the throne and He controls the destiny of all of mankind. He is patient and waits for the full number of the redeemed to enter into His Kingdom. The world sees destruction, He sees opportunities for surrender.
"He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!" Revelation

God is truly our only comfort in these trying times...for who else can control the winds and the waves...or knows the end from the beginning. Our God is bigger than any earthly trial we can face. He is our reward.
